Getting an Uncommon Breakthrough - Part 2
2 Samuel 23:16
And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.
2 Samuel 23:17
And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.
In all in his reminisces he spoke of 37 great men out of 400 discontented men he had assembled.
God brings us together not by mistake or accident, rather, God combines people together deliberately. Why 3 mighty men? Ecclesiastes tells us a three-fold cord is not easily broken.
(Eccl 4:9-12) Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: (10) If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! (11) Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? (12) Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
This is the power of divine combination. All in the assembly are important. All who are part of the assembly fulfil prophecy - whether they are actively involved, or inactive.
It is impossible for the word of God to not be fulfilled. Consider the period during which William Wilberforce lived. In 1748 a man, John Newton a slave trade captain repented in the midst of his adversity and wrote the song "Amazing Grace" - a song still playing a part in winning souls to Christ today.
Observe William Wilberforce who heard one sermon, was moved, planned, made a move, and through that move took a decision that has led millions of people to be free to live and work as free men in the same UK in which they would have been shackled in chains had they lived two centuries ago.
This article is an excerpt from a teaching by Bishop Oluwafemi at the March 3rd night vigil. A book bearing the same title is to be released later this year.
