Don't Blame God for Your Suffering
Many times when things go wrong in our lives, especially if we think we have been doing well (at least by our own standards) we tend to blame God or others. We might allow thoughts to creep in that say, "Hey, maybe this God isn't actually the way he says he is? Maybe the bible isn't true? etc. These thoughts can be very damaging to our faith and relationship with God. The question we need to ask ourselves is where do these thoughts come from? How do they arise? In the bible in John 10:10 Jesus says:
"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly". (King James Version) Another version states it like this: "The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)". (Amplified Version) So think about it. God's desire for us is that we should have every good thing. The devils desire is that he should take it away from us. God is love, joy, and peace. The devil brings violence, disharmony, death and destruction. Remember in Genesis, the devil corrupted the whole earth and mankind that God made to be pure and innocent. By tricking Eve, he robbed man of their blessing and protection and caused them to live in toil and struggle and sorrow. So all the pain, sorrow and sickness you see in the world today, is not of God and not from God, but from the devil. God's plan for you is for a better life. He is constantly seeking your restoration and preservation. Not to take away from your life but to reconcile you to him so he can shower you with abundance. The devils trick is to try and separate you from the love of God. He can't stop God from loving you (Read Romans 8:38-39), but if you allow it, he can stop you from loving God through bitterness and sin. So you draw farther and farther away from God and his blessing. God's command is "draw near to me and I will draw near to you". In the Old Testament, Job lost his family and all his possessions to Satanic attack. In the midst of his sorrow and pain he said, "The Lord gives and the lord takes away". Now, we know that everything in the Bible is truly stated, but not everything is true. Let me explain that before you become confused or outraged. Herod said to the wise men who were seeking the baby Jesus in Matthew 2:7 "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him." This is a true record of what Herod stated but is an untrue statement since he was a liar and had no intention of worshipping Jesus, but rather sought to kill him. So not every statement people made in the bible is true, but it is true that every statement recorded in the bible was really stated by the person. You need to know if they were Godly people and who was influencing them. (We do know that every statement of Jesus is true because he is "the way, the truth and the life"). But coming back to the statement Job made. He made this statement in his sorrow and probably believed it too, because he could not see that the devil was behind the terrible afflictions and activity he had suffered. Remember it was the devil that attacked and destroyed Job's family and possessions - not God. But at the end of his suffering God restored everything Job had lost with a brand new set. So how about you? Have you suffered loss of various types, have you served God and feel un-rewarded. Has there been great attack, loss and distress in your life. If and while you are blaming God, how do you expect him to be able to help you?
From today onwards, choose to stop allowing the devil to rob you. Stop blaming God and seeking solace in sin, alcohol, drugs or other things that can not benefit you. Don't be bitter towards God. He wants to protect and restore you. Pray to God and ask forgiveness for your bitterness. He desires to bless you Ask him to restore his hedge of protection around you. He wants to shower you with abundance. Ask him to give you a sound mind, divine favour and the good desire of your heart
Choose today to serve him (again) Give him your whole heart. He gave us his own Son, and will freely give us all things with him.
Please pray this prayer:
Lord Jesus, I have been so bitter towards God because of so much I have suffered. I have waited for so long and become bitter because I did not get it. Please forgive me for by bitterness. Wipe it from my heart, restore me and put a new song in my heart.
I choose you Jesus, I choose to serve you and love you.
Help me to yield myself to you and serve you all the days of my life.
I will not let Satan deceive me or lead me astray of separate me from you any more.
Thank you father for your goodness and mercy.
Please show me the way in which I should walk. Teach me how to succeed as I study your word
I give you thanks and praise, Father
Amen
